European Civil Society PhD Dissertation Network
Many doctoral students have little systematic training in civil society theories and developments in the field. Intellectual isolation from the larger field and from each other can also mean PhD students fail to benefit from the opportunities and intellectual enrichment a network of contacts can provide. StudentCorner provides a supportive PhD environment in the form of a network of institutions, researchers and students.
The PhD Dissertation Network brings together PhD students starting at an early stage of their PhD programme, working on civil society and third sector issues once a year for a series of seminars and discussions. These events introduce students to theories and approaches in the field; discuss current and future research topics; allow students to present their own work to a group of peers; and allow students to benefit from the feedback of fellow students and the advice of a broad group of faculty. The 10th annual event will be held in Heidelberg, Germany between 10th-12th of June 2010. You can find the call for participants here and a detailed schedule will be available soon. Learn more about about earlier PhD Network Meetings.
